Opal Stone Skaggs

6/21/13 — Mrs. Opal Stone Skaggs, age 93, of Rattlesnake Ridge, Olive Hill, passed away Friday evening, June 21, 2013, at her residence. She was born June 26, 1919, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Emory and Myrtle Blankenbeckler Stone.                                                                                   Opal was a Christian and of the Church of God faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Thurman Skaggs; one son, Wayne Skaggs; one daughter, Vivian Skaggs; three brothers, George Stone, Lowell Stone and Linsey Stone; four sisters, Zelma Stone, Bertha Skaggs, Faye Brown and Madge Lewis; and four infant grandchildren.                                                                                      Opal is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Faye and Dave Burchett of Olive Hill, Barbara Jean and Wayne Kilgore of Elliott County, and Janice Marie and Rick Barker of Olive Hill, nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Gretta Flannery and Vesta Flannery, both of Elliott County; and one sister-in-law, Sally Stone of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members, neighbors, and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother John Bradley and Brother Johnny Austin Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Cemetery on Skaggs Flat in Elliott County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 24, and until the service hour on Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.                                                                                      Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
