02/11/14 — James O. Carper, 86, of Grayson, passed away Feb. 8, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Carter City, the son of the late Charles Albert and Annie (Clifton) Carper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Aneva McGuire Carper; four brothers, Ray, Ralph, Dennis and Howard Carper; and one sister, Ruth Newman.
James was a member of the Olive Hill Church of Christ and was WWII army veteran. He was a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by three sisters, Wilma June Fouch of Martinsburg, W.Va., Lucy King of Grayson and Edna Mae Jones of Somerset; one brother, Charles Carper of Marion, Ohio; two sons, Steve (Diane) Carper of Catlettsburg and James (Claire) Carper of Grayson; two daughters, Linda (Vernon) Jordan of Grayson and Brenda (Reuben) McKee of Flatwoods; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Sparks Funeral Home with Brent Duncan and Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Grayson Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Sparks Funeral Home.
