William Curtis "Curt" Blevins Jr.



01/21/14 — William Curtis "Curt" Blevins Jr., 70, of Ison Creek Road, Sandy Hook, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2014, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born April 28, 1943, in Carter County, a son of the late William Curtis Sr. and Bertha Carroll Blevins.

Curt attended New Beginning Worship Center. He was a retired co-owner of Turn Key Tunneling and a retired president for Capitol Tunneling. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, fishing and working in his garden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Ison Blevins; four brothers, Wayne Blevins, Jesse Blevins, Oral Ray Blevins and John Blevins; and three sisters, Linda Cummings, Ethel Knipp and Cloral Henry.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Alice Snodgrass Blevins of Sandy Hook; one son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Christy Blevins of Grayson; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and John Justice of Grayson; one stepson and daughter-in-law, L.J. and Corena Messer of Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Melissa Messer of Ashland; three brothers, Larry Thomas Blevins, Clifford Blevins and James Ernest Blevins, all of Grayson; two sisters, Juanita Ferguson of Grayson and Zethel Gentry of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Lindsey, Cristan and Isabella Justice, Kanaan and Karson Wells, Brantley Blevins (a grandson on the way), Kris Dong, Kennedy Messer, Evony Messer and Obie Messer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in the Chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home with Brother Eugene Haney, Brother Tom Jones and Brother Tom Jones Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.

Friends may visit after 5 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service hour at the funeral home.

Rick Blevins, Cecil Blevins, Gary Ison, L.J. Messer, Steve Dong and Bobby Howard will serve as pallbearers.

Shannon Blevins, Tom Blevins and John Justice will serve as honorary pallbearers.
