June 2, 2014 — Mrs. Goldie Beatrice Phillips Willis, age 85, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, formerly of Carter County, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Highland House Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
She was born March 15, 1929, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Laura Warren Phillips.
Goldie was the owner of Willis Grocery and Lucas Rod & Reel for over half a century.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Willis; one son, Danny E. Bayless; two brothers, Mark Phillips and Hubert Phillips; and two sisters, Gayle Phillips and Mary Victor.
Goldie is survived by three children, Tony Bayless and wife, Delores, of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Philbert Bayless and wife, Linda, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Vicky Johnson of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Walker of Olive Hill; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Grahn Nazarene Church with Brother David Gee officiating. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery in Grahn.
Friends may visit from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
