May 27, 2014 — Mr. James R. "Jim" Estes, Sr., age 70, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born July 9, 1943, in Olive Hill, a son of the late Rexford T. Sr. and Nona Hensley Estes.
Jim previously worked as a field technician for Abednego Environmental Services of Michigan at the Toyota plant in Georgetown. He loved telling jokes, talking to others, trading, and collecting guns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Brenda Butler Estes, and one brother, Sam Estes.
Jim is survived by three sons, James R. Estes Jr. of Thousand Oaks, California, Ryan Scott Estes of Visalia, California, and Chris Little of Lexington; three daughters and a son-in-law, Regina Lorraine Estes of Thousand Oaks, California, Alissa and Jonathan Smith of Richmond, and Lori Little of Winchester; 10 grandchildren; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry Lee "Hank" Estes, Jerry Estes, and Rexford Theodore "Ted" Jr. and Sue Estes, all of Olive Hill; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Bowles of Los Angeles, California, and Mary "Abby" and Jim Walker of Akron, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, with his family members officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit after 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
