June 25, 2014 — Ms. Perlina Elizabeth Lawson Lawhorn, age 79, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday evening, June 28, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born September 26, 1934, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Elijah and Violet Parker Lawson.
Perlina was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Lawson, and five sisters, Pansy Lawson, Barbara Lawson, Rosie Lyons, Mary Easterling and Margie Seagraves.
Perlina is survived by one daughter, Donna Smith of Grayson; four grandchildren, Toby Allen Henderson, Sherry Elizabeth Downing, Melissa Gail Davis, and Sara Renae Raybourn; 12 great grandchildren, Bradley Joseph Henderson, Ashley Dawn Edwards, Brittany Danelle Cartwright, Megan Suzann Henderson, Hannaha Grace Davis, Heather Laraine Davis, Addie Elizabeth Henderson, Ian Jackson Lee Henderson, Lucas Harmon Allen Henderson, Kenzi Paige Downing, Callen Alexander Downing, and Amelia Jayde Raybourn; four great, great grandchildren, Treylin Kyle Cartwright, McKayla Dawn Edwards, Kora Nicole Edwards, and Colton Robert Henderson; and two brothers, Charles Lawson of Grahn, and Bobby Joe Lawson of Soldier. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, and until the service hour on Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Wendall Davis, Brad Henderson, Freedom Cartwright, Jack Nolan, Greg Nolan, and Bill Griggs will serve as pallbearers.
