7/22/13 — Judy Violet Grigson Sparks, 58, of Garrison, passed away Saturday morning, July 20, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 2, 1954, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Henry Polley and Ladys Lawhun Grigson.
Judy was a Christian and a member of the Wrights Chapel Church in Garrison. She also has been volunteering for the past three years as a "grandmother" at the Garrison Elementary School, where she loved helping and being with children. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Norman Grigson, Harlan Polley, Alfred Grigson, Saint Polley and Ancil Grigson; and five sisters, Betty Corns, Jewell Grigson, Alice Grigson, Edna Polley and Gertrude Ranchin.
Judy is survived by her husband of 41years, Thomas "Tom" Sparks; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Lousie Sparks of Tollesboro, James and Missy Sparks and Nick and Leann Sparks, all of Garrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Butch Jarrells of Ribolt and Amy and Timmy Rister of Garrison; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Grigson of Perrysville, Ohio, and Dale Grigson of Covington; and three sisters, Thelma Kennedy and Christine Vance, both of Vanceburg, and Agnes Clark of Garrison. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Wrights Chapel Church in Garrison with Brother Johnny Stamper, Brother Clarence Hall and Brother Larry Madden officiating. Burial will follow in the Soldier Cemetery in Garrison.
Friends may visit after 6 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, and until the service hour Tuesday at Wrights Chapel Church in Garrison.
Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is in charge of all arrangements.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
