Orbie Kennion Rivers

June 16, 2014 — Orbie Kennion Rivers, 78, formerly of Olive Hill, passed away Thursday Feb. 6, 2014 in Subic Bay, Philippines. 

He was born March 4, 1935 in Carter County, a son of the late Forest and Alma Hamm Rivers.

Orbie was a retired CPA and Realty Broker from Hurst, Texas. After retirement, he moved to the Philippines in 2008 where he met and married his loving wife Rudith.

He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Orbie was a graduate of Morehead State University.

In addition to his parents,  he was preceded in death by five brothers, Armel E. Rivers, Arnold P. Rivers,  Thurman "Pete" Rivers, Floyd L. Rivers and Frank E. Rivers;  three sisters, an infant sister, Nona Marie Prescott and Sarah B. Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife Rudith Rivers of Subic Bay, Philippines; two sons Orbie Kennion (Rikki) Rivers, Jr.  and Timothy Byron Rivers;  three grandchildren, Orbie Kennion (Kristy) Rivers, III, Addison Rivers and Ashton Rivers;  and a special ex - wife and life-long friend, Rochella Fraley Rivers, all of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Cletis E. "Gene" and Barbara Rivers, Dunreath, IN, Forest E. Rivers,  Olive Hill, and Millard "Ray" and Donna Rivers, Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters,  Barbara A. and Robert Henson and Opal J. and Bill Bowling,  both of Olive Hill.  He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special family service was held in rememberance of Orbie, Saturday, June 14 at his childhood home place where he had many fond memories of growing up, living, laughing and learning.  Rev. Don Rivers led the services.  A small gathering of family and friends were in attendance to share in the final farewell and the spreading of his ashes in the place Orbie loved and called home.
