02/04/2013 — Mr. John Buckler, 82, of Oakland Ridge in Olive Hill, passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2013, in Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born July 27, 1930, in Carter County, a son of the late Wayman and Pearl Holbrook Buckler.
John was of the Christian Holiness faith and was a lifelong farmer. He retired from Carter Caves where he worked as an electrician. John enjoyed farming and raising his cattle, and loved working in his bees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one little brother, James Franklin Buckler.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Joy Gee Buckler; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Carper, Nancy and Carl Withrow and Jennifer and Mark Evans, all of Olive Hill; four grandchildren that he dearly loved, Madison Evans, MaKayla Evans, Caden Townsend and Braden Townsend; one brother, Bill Buckler of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters, Alma Burchett of Olive Hill and Ruby Jordan of Grayson; one brother-in-law, Ted Gee and wife Betty of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother J. C. Caudill and Brother Raymond Steagall officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, and until the service hour Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
John Carper, Carl Withrow, Mark Evans, Terry Gee, Ted Gee and Jerry Caudill will serve as pallbearers.
