01/09/13 — Mr. Dale Eugene McAtee, 59, of Olive Hill, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a son of Donald and Donna Poulson McAtee of Van Horne, Iowa.
Dale was an iron worker with the Local Union No. 91 and a member of the New Hope Community Church in Olive Hill. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Trace Huffman, and his grandmother with whom he was very close, Louella McAtee.
In addition to his parents, Dale is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janet Hodge McAtee; two sons, Johnathon Tolliver and his fiancé Miranda Hanshaw and Chris McAtee, all of Olive Hill; one daughter, Melissa Jordan of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Cameron Tolliver, Ayden Nickerson and Connor Huffman; two brothers, Doug McAtee and David "Burt" McAtee, both of Van Horne, Iowa; two sisters, Denise McAtee and Diana McAtee, both of Van Horne, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Lee Lucas of Grayson; two nieces, Amanda McAtee Dawes and Angelia McAtee, both of Van Horne, Iowa; and two nephews, Jeremy McAtee and Eric McAtee, both of Van Horne, Iowa. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the New Hope Community Church, 657 Henderson Branch, Olive Hill, with Brother Rudy Reed and Brother Bob Burnett officiating.
Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill is in charge of all arrangements.
