Eric L. Evans, 85, passed away early Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Kingston of Ashland. Born March 15, 1928 in Olive Hill, he was the son of the late Fred and Eva (Stephenson) Evans.
He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy. Eric retired as a tool and die supervisor at Shiloh Corp.
He was an avid Ohio sports fan, cheering on the Indians, Browns and Buckeyes. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially at Lake Erie, vegetable gardening, being especially proud of his homegrown tomatoes.
Eric adored his grandchildren. His children could not have had a more perfect father if they had the ability to choose one from a catalog. Eric fit their dreams in every way possible.
He is survived by four children, Tracee (Wayne) Bradley of Mansfield, Barb (Ron) Jenne of Columbus, Tom (Rhonda) Evans of Ontario and David (Kacy) Alexander of Texas; eight grandchildren, Robyn (Johnny) Waller, Josh (Amy) Bradley, Aaron Bradley, Allyson Jenne, Jason Perry, Joshua Perry, Ashlee (Cory) Evans-Reynard and Eric Evans; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jan Evans of Mansfield; one sister, Betty Waddell of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Brokaw) Evans, and seven brothers and sisters.
Friends and family may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
