01/16/14 — James “Shorty” Roy Marshall, 82, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born May 8, 1931, at Hitchins, a son of the late Roy and Ruth Flynn Marshall. James was retired from General Refractories, a U.S. Korean Army Veteran and a member of the Dixie Park Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clotine Colegrove, and four brothers, Edgel, Bill, Elmer Todd and Claude Lee Marshall.
His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruby Moore Marshall of Grayson; three sisters, Vernie Gollihue, Emma Porter and Dollie Porter, all of Denton. Shorty and Ruby were honored to be called Mamaw and Papaw by two adoring young boys, Gavin and Kane Wilburn.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Malone Funeral Home by Terry Harris. Burial will be in the North East Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday with military rites by the East Carter JROTC.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
