04-19-12 — Mr. Hairm Edward "Ed" Maggard, 75, of Olive Hill, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 18, 2012, at his residence.
He was born September 25, 1937, in Carter County, a son of the late Hattie Maggard Kiser.
Ed worked for 28 years for Wayne Supply as a mechanic and loved being outdoors enjoying wildlife and watching birds, deer and turkeys. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil Maggard, Frank Maggard, Coy Lane Kiser and Elmer Kiser.
Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bessie Gallion Maggard; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jackie Maggard of Kenova, W. Va., and Frankie Lane Maggard of Olive Hill; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa and Rick Carroll of Olive Hill, Teresa and Ted Springston of Cardington, Ohio, and Patricia Queen of Grayson; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis Kiser, Jr. of Grayson and George Kiser of Olive Hill; and one sister, Lillian Backus of Lancaster, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill with Brother John Gobel officiating. Burial will follow in the Biggs Hill Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, and until the service hour at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
George Kiser, Lewis Kiser, Jr., Frank Maggard, Eddie Maggard, Jr., Ted Springston and Nathan Queen will serve as pallbearers.
