Lonnie Milton Orcutt


04-19-12 — Mr. Lonnie Milton Orcutt, 59, of Old Trace Road, Emerson, passed away Friday afternoon, November 16, 2012, at his residence.

He was born January 21, 1953, in Carter County, a son of Louise Rayburn Orcutt of Walnut Grove Ridge, Olive Hill, and the late Albert "Bert" Orcutt.

Lonnie was a member of the Old Trace Community Church where he was very active in the church. He was the former owner and operator of Orcutt’s Grocery in Laurel for 15 years until the 2010 flood closed it. Lonnie loved trading knives, watching UK basketball and spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, Lonnie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Zornes Orcutt; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Neil Orcutt of Frenchburg and Bryan and Jennifer Orcutt of Emerson; two grandchildren, Isabella Orcutt and Leighton Orcutt; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Denise Orcutt, Greg and Lori Orcutt and Tim and Denise Orcutt, all of Olive Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Greg Kiser of Olive Hill; his father and mother-in-law, Lon and Ruby Zornes of Emerson; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members, church family, friends, and especially his neighbors who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Old Trace Community Church in Emerson with Brother Bobby Burge, Brother Monroe Craig, Brother Jim Porter and Brother Charlie Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Trace Community Cemetery in Emerson.

Friends visited after 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, and until the service hour at 11 a.m. Monday at the Old Trace Community Church.

Mark Orcutt, Greg Orcutt, Tim Orcutt, Jeff Zornes, Doug Zornes, and Matthew Zornes served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were his family and friends, too numerous to mention.

Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix is in charge of all arrangements.
