04/08/13 — Mr. Dewey McGlone, 86, of Ky. 2, Olive Hill, passed away at his residence to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday evening, April 6, 2013.
He was born April 23, 1926, on the McGlone farm in Rooney (McGlone Creek), a son of the late Sam Fredrick and Molissa Kiser McGlone. His paternal grandparents were James and Mary Hilger McGlone; and his maternal grandparents were A. B. "Gold" and Haley Burton Kiser.
Dewey was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was of the Christian Holiness faith serving as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and Elder of the church. He was a farmer, a retired bus driver from Carter County schools with 40 years of service and a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy. Dewey enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, farming, 4-wheeling and watching UK basketball.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Russell McGlone, Herman McGlone, Willie McGlone, Howard McGlone and Luther McGlone; and three sisters, Ruby McGlone, Lena Davis and Dorothy Cottongin.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn Louise "Kitty Lou" Jessee McGlone; two sons, Dorsey (Maria) McGlone of Olive Hill and Rahl Dean "DD" McGlone of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Lois Jean (Donny) Crooks of Olive Hill; two grandsons, Norman Lee McGlone of Louisville and Bobby Jay McGlone of Olive Hill; and one sister, Louise (Leroy) Danner of Olive Hill. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Bill Burnett, Brother Everett Burnett and Brother Russell "Bud" Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery on Ky. 2 in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, and until the service hour Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
