Arthur Michael Tackett

Arthur Michael "Mike" Tackett, age 68, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday morning, January 11, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born December 24, 1944, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Arthur D. and Kathleen De Hart Tackett.

Mike was of the Christian faith and retired as a network technician from the telecom industry.  He enjoyed astronomy, art, nature, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kodi Michelle Tackett Bradley; two brothers, James William Tackett and Henry Lee Tackett; and one sister, Jenny Jo Tackett Patton.

Mike is survived by his wife of 47 years, Verna Fannin Tackett; one daughter, Mary Katherine Bradley of Olive Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Christie Tackett of Olive Hill; two granddaughters, Hannah Ashley Tackett and Abigail Grace Tackett; one great granddaughter, Zoey Reese Garvin; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Myra Mae Nolan of Olive Hill and Mary Frances and Fred Lewis of Hillard, Ohio.  He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Richard Allen Short officiating. Burial was in the Olive Hill Memorial Park.

Friends visited from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Stan Tackett, Russell Wallace, Marty Church, Josh Garvin, Jack Lowe, and John Wittenmyer served as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Lewis, Roger Patton, Chris Tackett, Fred Lewis, J. B. Henderson, Greg Henderson, and Danny Lowe.

The family appreciates the acts of love, support, and prayers by family and friends.  The family especially appreciates all of the kindness and care from Don and Goldie Wallace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Olive Hill First Baptist Church Betty Hannah Circle Fund for Christmas Angel Tree Gifts, King’s Daughters Medical Center Hospitality House in Ashland, or the Community Care Hospice Center in Ashland.
