James "Johnny" Maddix



03/21/13 — Mr. James "Johnny" Maddix, 83, of Grahn, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2013, at his residence, after an extended illness.

He was born July 22, 1929, in Grahn, a son of the late Dennis and Effie Mobley Maddix.

Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War in Germany. He was a retired employee of Louisville Fire Brick in Grahn and attended Clifty United Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Rob Maddix and Kenneth Maddix; one sister, Maxine Maddix; two half-brothers, Larry Maddix and Charles Maddix; and one great-grandson, Lucas Jordan.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye Stevens Maddix; one daughter, Vicki Maddix Gilbert (Willis) of Olive Hill; one son, James Michael Maddix of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Chad Gilbert (Jessica) of Olive Hill and Kayla Gilbert Jordan (Brandon) of Grayson; two great-grandchildren, Lily Gilbert and Caleb Jordan; three half-sisters, Wanda Lou Maddix and Ernestine Maddix Tackett, both of Olive Hill, and Charlene Maddix of Grayson; and three half-brothers, Homer Maddix, Gary Maddix and Cleadith Maddix, all of Olive Hill. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Elder J. D. Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Olive Hill. A military service will be conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138 at the funeral home.

Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, and until the service hour Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
