08/23/2012 — Georgia Mae Conley, 90, of Rush, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland.
Georgia was born to Frank and Tempie Gillum Conley on April 12, 1922, in Greenup County. She married Kenneth Conley of Rush on February 17, 1940. After serving in the shipyards in Baltimore during World War II, they returned to Star Hill to farm and keep their home and country store, Conley’s Grocery. Kenneth and Georgia ran their business together for over 50 years before Kenneth passed away in August of 1998.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Brenda, and son-in law, Gordon Womack of Rush; and two granddaughters, Lori and Steve Ison of Bruin and Kenna and Jeff Jasper of Lexington. She was dearly loved by her four great-grandchildren, Hannah Mae Ison, Kaylen Patricia Jasper, Kyle Douglas Conley Jasper and Kori Elizabeth Jasper. Georgia is also survived by one brother, Carl and his wife Ruth Conley of Raceland; and two sisters in law, Blanche Conley of Grayson and Ruby Conley of Pinehurst, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Chuck and John; and her sisters Jeanette Dawson, Jean Griffin, Mozelle Conley, Gladys Swatzell and Nina Coburn-Flaugher.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 13, at 2 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Pastor Fred Wiles. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
