Scott Lewis doesn't hesitate to tell people why he and his wife, Dawnita, have started their own small business, TKO Vape Shop.

“If you give it a chance, it will actually help you quit smoking,” he said last weekend during their shop's grand opening event in Grayson. Lewis smoked his last cigarette more than two years ago.

Mrs. Lewis, who has never smoked a cigarette, said she has another reason to appreciate “vaping” as an alternative to tobacco.

“Let me tell you, it smells way better in your house! It is like a tart burner,” she said.

Located at 131 South Carol Malone Boulevard, TKO Vape Shop offers more than 60 flavors of “eliquid” or “juice,” along with a sampling station they call their juice bar.

“They can taste what they want before they buy it,” Mrs. Lewis explained.

The shop also has a variety of vape units, from simple pens to custom “mods” and kits.

“Everything from starter kits to advanced,” Lewis said. “Tanks, batteries and accessories ... about every accessory you could want.”

The husband and wife team are each members of the East Carter High School Class of 1987. He has worked as an electrician for more than two decades and she serves as treasurer for the City of Grayson.

TKO Vape Shop is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (606) 315-9355.
