Kentucky State Police and the Carter County Coroner say says no foul play is suspected in the death of a jail inmate last week.
Tracy Griffith, 46, of Grayson, was booked into the Carter County Detention Center on Jan. 12 for parole violation.
Coroner George Sparks said Griffith died Friday morning and that reports on the death are expected later this week.
KSP Trooper Michael Murriell said that there was no criminal activity suspected.
Jailer R.W. Boggs said that Griffith was on a 24-hour medical watch.
“A deputy spoke to him at 7:05 a.m.” Boggs said. “Within the next half hour he had passed away. All procedures were followed and we are cooperating with all ongoing investigations.”
Boggs said that a deputy jailer tried to resuscitate Griffith until EMS could arrive.
Funeral services for Griffith were held Monday.
