Tasty food, a great auction and a whole lot of fun was how most people described Saturday’s Wild Turkey Federation banquet.

The 2007 Little Sandy Limbhangers Chapter of the Northwest Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF) annual Preserve the Hunting Heritage Banquet took place at the Grayson Conference Center with a packed house and $21,000 being made for several worthy causes.

Chris Parsons, president of the NWTF, said the event went well with 232 people attending.

“I just hope everyone that attended enjoyed it as much as we did,” Parsons told The Journal-Times. “There were 210 tickets sold upfront and then the rest were walk-ins.”

Most of the proceeds will stay in the state and local area while funding local scholarships, Wheelin’ Sportsmen, various women events, Jakes and land development, Parsons said.

The NWTF is a non-profit, grassroots conservation organization that is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of hunting heritage.

The NWTF works with local people, government and Fish and Wildlife agencies through a network of many local chapters.

The Little Sandy Chapter is embarking on its fifth year of community service with many activities planned for the upcoming year.

The Little Sandy Chapter recently received seen different state recognition awards and the Kentucky ‘Above and Beyond’ chapter award. “The accomplishments could not be possible without the remarkable support of our sponsors and hard working committee members,” Parson said.
