A chili cookoff and charity 5k run/walk are among a full slate of events scheduled for Saturday's 12th annual Funtober Fest celebration in downtown Grayson.
Prichard Elementary School Principal Jason McGlone will serve as master of ceremonies for the Funtober Fest parade.
McGlone was honored earlier this year as Kentucky's recipient of the National Distinguished Principal Award.
The parade will start at noon at the corner of Main and Landsdowne streets, proceeding east and ending at Pomeroy Street.
Treat bags for children will be available at the downtown park gazebo immediately following the parade.
As in years past, Grayson's Funtober Fest again will feature a chili cook off competition.
Entrants will be required to cook a minimum of five gallons of chili from scratch in an open area on-site to be eligible for prizes.
Meat may be precooked and vegetables pre-chopped
First, second and third place awards will be given by the tasting judges. A people's choice award for the most popular chili also will be presented. The entry fee for the chili cook-off is $30.
Proceeds from the race will be shared by the Nicholas Yancy Nischan Foundation and Carter County Relay for Life.
Registration for the charity 5k run/walk begins at 9 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, located on the corner of Second and Pomeroy streets.
The Grayson Rotary Club will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center at Second and Hord Streets. Tickets are $5.
