The Grayson Rotary Club will host this year’s Funtober Fest, Friday, October 12th and Saturday, October 13th at Grayson City Park and at the Walking Trail on East River Road.

Sponsorships are being requested, at levels from $25.00 for a “Friend” up to $300.00 and more for a “Diamond” sponsor. Sponsorships are due by August 31st, in order to be included on

In addition, Chili Teams are being requested for the “Chili in the Hills” cook-off, with more relaxed rules and a lower entry fee of $20.00, before August 31st and $25.00 after that date. Grayson Rotary Club encourages businesses, church groups, and individuals to enter the chili contest for fun, to show off their culinary skills, and to win prizes! In addition to the Grayson Rotary Club, several other groups are involved in planning the festivities, including; Grayson Tourism Commission, Go Radio, Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Grayson Fire Department, Recreation Alliance, Carter County Youth Leadership, FEAT, First Book of Carter County, and more.

Friday activities will be held on 3rd and Park Streets, and include a Photography Show and Craft Vendors at the Grayson Gallery & Art Center, a Community Fun Ride and Bike Safety Course, and a free family-friendly movie at the Grayson Fire Department.

On Saturday, the Nick Nischan Foundation will hold their annual 5K Run/Walk, the photography show and craft fair will continue at the Gallery, along with a craft fair at the Grayson Fire Department. You can enjoy free pumpkin decorating, hear a story read by storybook characters, and receive a free book! Be sure to taste the delicious samples at the Chili Contest, and vote for your favorite to win prizes, as you listen to music provided by CJ the DJ. Get a henna tattoo, watch the “Dance With Hope Studio” performance, then enjoy “Strings and Songs” music, presented by Bagby United Methodist Church.

Go on down to the Walking Trail Park on East River Road for the pet and people costume contests and to Trick or Treat. Then come back to City Park for the “Go Radio Block Party” with music, dance contests, and free food! Next, stick around for the official opening of the Grayson Fire Department’s Halloween Light Show, the only one in the state, and be ready for a surprise performance! Bring your chair and enjoy another free movie at dark.
