East Carter may be like the proverbial late bloomer, but that’s just fine with the Raiders. They’ve won two or more games consecutively on only three occasions all season. One of those stretches is right now, as East Carter will go into the 16th Region Tournament as 62nd District champions after dropping Elliott County 63-49 on Friday night at Morgan County’s Veterans Memorial Gymnasium.
The scoreboard showed that East Carter won its second straight 62nd District Championship but to Hager Easterling, his team did not play Lady Raider basketball.
Raider rally puts East in 62nd Finals
It’s a good thing there are four quarters to a basketball game. The East Carter Raiders were down double digits before rallying in the fourth quarter as they defeated host Morgan County 51-43 in the 62nd District Tournament last Wednesday.

McDowell, Moore sign with UPIKE Soccer
Ashleigh McDowell and Kallie Moore have been friends since the third grade. They both have supported each other on and off the soccer fields of Carter County for several years. Now, the two will call the University of Pikeville home for the next four years as both signed to play college soccer for the Bears.
