Bates' Crazy 8

By MacKenzie Bates - Sports Editor

Oct. 16, 2013 — 1. Fairview (7-0)

2. Ashland (6-2)

3. Mason County (7-0)

4. Lawrence County (6-2)

5. Raceland (5-2)

6. Lewis County (5-2)

7. Russell (4-3)

8. Morgan County (4-3)

There are just a few changes in this week’s rankings. Those Mason County Royals have something special going. After rolling through their non-conference schedule with very little trouble, Mason is now 2-0 in Class 3A District 6 with a 28-6 over powerhouse Russell. Mason looks to sweep the rest of the way and go in to the playoffs as one of the state’s unbeaten teams.

Mason and Lawrence County trade spots after the Bulldogs were handed a devastating 28-20 loss on the road at Pike County Central. It does not get any easier for Lawrence as they still have to travel to class 3A State runner-up Belfry this Friday.

Aside from the Red Devils and Bulldogs, everyone is a winner and there is not much change. Be on the lookout this week for one of the biggest match ups on this side of the Region as No. 1 Fairview travels to No. 5 Raceland.
