March 27, 2013 — The West Carter baseball team traveled to Russell on Friday with intentions of coming away with a big victory. But a big Red Devil fourth inning doomed the Comets as they lost 12-6.
West and Russell were tied at three apiece heading into the fourth before the Red Devils ripped six straight runs to take a 9-3 advantage.
Catcher Spencer Phillips led the way for West, going 2-4 with three RBI. Tanner Tackett went 1-4 with an RBI and third baseman Ben Jordan had one RBI. West Carter also stole four bases with Peyton Brown and Jordan swiping two each.
Russell’s Bobby May went 2-for-4 and also had four RBIs while J.D. Pridemore added two hits, inlcuding a triple, two RBIs and scored three times. Dylan Howard had two hits and two RBIs as well.
West Carter will travel to rival, East Carter on Thursday. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
