The playoff picture is a lot clearer after Friday’s games. Raceland wrapped up the Class 1A District 8 Championship after defeating Paintsville on the road. The Ashland Tomcats fell to Johnson Central and will be the second seed in Class 4A District 8.
But the big story out of the area is the situation with the Fairview Eagles. Our sister paper, the Ashland Daily Independent stated last week that the Kentucky High School Athletic Association had confirmed active research ongoing within the Fairview High School athletic program involving the eligibility of a student-athlete.
Until a conclusion is derived, no findings will be revealed and there will be no comment from the KHSAA on the matter, according to the organization. The Fairview Independent Board of Education met Monday night to discuss the matter.
Football Coach Nathan McPeek’s resignation is to take effect at the end of the season and Principal and Athletic Director Garry McPeek’s immediately.
