KCU women’s basketball posts 3.53 GPA last season

July 17, 2013 — Not only do the Kentucky Christian University Lady Knight Basketball players have an outstanding history on the hardwood, they also set the standard in the classroom.

With spring semester grades released at the end of the year, the Lady Knights led the way on campus with a team cumulative grade point average of 3.53. Coach Ron Arnett was not surprised.

“These young ladies are very serious about grades and overall academic achievement,” Arnett said. “For the past several years the team GPA has hovered around the 3.3-3.4 range with regularity. This spring's 3.53 GPA was the highest ever for a KCU Lady Knight team. I am very proud of them for this accomplishment.”

Seniors-to-be Tanya Bowens and Monica Stevens led the way with perfect 4.0 marks. Not far behind was junior Katelyn Meyer with a 3.88 for the semester. Jana Glick, Sharonda Jones and graduated Rachel Chester posted 3.6 for the term.

Only Chester graduated from the team so grades should continue to be high as the KCU Lady Knights head into the fall semester of another season. NCCAA guidelines recognize teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher with a “Scholar Team Award.”
