Jan. 16, 2013 — There are just a few changes to this week's Crazy 8 Rankings. With a few teams losing and some pulling off several victories in a row, teams are now looking to begin the homestretch heading in to the district tournaments next month.

Boys:

1.  Russell (15-4)

2.  Fleming County (13-2)

3.  Morgan County (13-5)

4.  Ashland (11-7)

5.  Rowan County (11-7)

6.  Boyd County (10-9)

7.  Lewis County (9-7)

8.  Elliott County (10-7)

The Tomcats take a tumble after dropping two contests against Mason County and Tug Valley, W.Va., but also pulling out just a one-point victory against Fairview. Watch out for the Rowan County Vikings, who have won seven of their last nine games.

Girls:

1.  Ashland (11-3)

2.  East Carter (13-5)

3.  Boyd County (12-5)

4.  Bath County (9-5)

5.  Rowan County (10-7)

6.  Greenup County (11-10)

7.  Lewis County (8-8)

8.  Russell (7-10)

Here come the Lady Raiders. They knocked off then No. 2 Boyd County Monday night and have positioned themselves to be a contender come March. Lewis County makes the jump into this week's rankings after knocking off West Carter last week and St. Patrick on Monday. However, the Lady Lions have three big games, including one against No. 5 Rowan County. The Lady Vikings have won eight of their last 10, including a six game winning streak.
