Panthers take down Comets

May 8, 2013 — The West Carter Baseball Team traveled to Flemingsburg Friday to take on the Panthers of Fleming County, looking to end a two game losing streak.

However, the Panthers had other ideas as they manufactured 16 hits over six innings as Fleming defeated West 13-3.

Fleming’s Cameron Dailey did most of the damage, going 2-for-4 with a homerun and five RBI. T.J. Miller was a perfect 3-for-3 scoring three Panthers and Brady Saunders had three RBI’s as well.

West (6-11) got a three hit performance from Zach Walker. He was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Trey Greenhill went 2-for-2.

The Panthers got things started in the first after a two run double by Dailey. But West would get those back in the top of the second frame when Greenhill singled to allow Tanner Tackett to score. Greenhill would later score on an error.

From then on, it was all Fleming. The Panthers scored seven runs in the bottom frame, including Dailey’s three-run round tripper to give the home team a 9-2 advantage. The lead ballooned to 11-2 in the third.

Walker would get his RBI in the sixth inning, a single that drove in Greenhill. But two runs scored by Fleming in the bottom frame would give the Panthers a 10 run victory.

The Comets, who have been plagued by errors committed in the field over the past few weeks, did not have one miscue on Friday.

Tackett would have one hit in three at bats, Kyle Stone went 1-for-4, Spencer Phillips, Matthew Patrick and Richard McGlone each had a hit in the loss.

Weather permitting, the Comets were set to host Menifee County Tuesday evening. They travel to Russell on Thursday.
