Bates' Crazy 8

April 17, 2013 — Baseball:

1. Bath County (9-3)

2. Boyd County (9-7)

Boyd County has made the charge for the top spot in the Crazy 8 after a 4-0 week.

With wins over Greenup, East Carter, Cabell Midland, W.Va. and Pikeville, the Musketeers are getting into midseason shape at the right time. A showdown with rival Ashland is set for Tuesday. Bath moves in to the top spots after winning the 16th Region All “A” Classic last week. Lewis County drops after falling 8-0 to Boyd County on Monday.

The Kittens are consistently winning now that the season is almost halfway through. Ashland went 5-0 last week, earning victories over No. 2 Boyd County and No. 6 Fairview, among others. However, the Russell Lady Devils, winners of the 16th Region All “A” took care of Ashland 1-0 on Monday so Boyd takes the top spot for this week.

Rowan County finished third in the Lady Redhound Classic in Corbin over the weekend and East Carter earned its first 16th Region loss of the year against No. 1. Boyd County.
