Bates' Crazy 8

Jan. 8, 2014 — Boys

1. Fleming County (8-5)

2. Ashland (8-3)

3. Elliott County (9-5)

4. Rowan County (7-6)

5. Morgan County (8-3)

6. Boyd County (6-7)

7. East Carter (7-6)

8. Raceland (5-3)

There is a little flip flopping going on in the boys rankings this week.

Fleming County regains the top spot after winning their only game of the week against Bath County. Ashland only drops one spot despite defeating Scott in the Russell Classic. While the Tomcats are playing well, the Panthers seem to be picking up where 2013 left off.

Do not disregard one of the biggest rivalry games in the region on Friday as they host No. 4 Rowan County.

1. East Carter (13-1)

2. Ashland (7-3)

3. Bath County (8-2)

4. Russell (10-3)

5. Boyd County (7-4)

6. Fleming County (7-5)

7. Lewis County (6-6)

8. Raceland (6-5)

Was anyone as upset as I was that we did not get the No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup between Ashland and East Carter?

The game was called because of worsening road conditions and I will admit it was the right call. The game has been rescheduled for Jan. 30.

The Lady Raiders knocked off Glasgow in the Ashland Kitten Shootout on Saturday, while the Kittens rebounded from a loss to Boyd County to knock off the Lady Lions 68-51.

I did not change any teams in the top four, but despite losing to Ashland, Boyd has been playing a lot better as of late. Much like their counterparts, Raceland takes the eighth spot this week.
