East and West compete in EKC track meet

April 17, 2013 — The East Carter girls team finished second in the EKC track meet with 87 points. West Carter finished seventh out of 11 teams with 20 points.

East’s Shayla Henderson won the girls high jump with a 4”10 jump. Macy Dyer was right behind her with a 4”8 jump. Henderson also took first in the girls long jump with a 14-01.25 performance.

In the girls 4x100 meter relay, East’s team of Whitney Gollihue, Sarah-Jo Diamond, Kerie Steele and Ashleigh McDowell finished fifth with a time of 59.56.

The 4x400 meter relay saw East’s group of Brianna Kiser, Addey Damron, Sarah-Jo Diamond and Olivia Nischan finish in fourth with a time of 5:14.59.

East’s girls group of Kady Chaffin, Maddie Dyer, Delancey Morse, and Megan Suttles also placed fourth in the 4x800 meter relay in 11:58.63.

The East Carter boys finished third overall in the EKC meet with 63 points. West Carter finished sixth with 32 points.

West’s Tristen Mitchell finished in third place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.96. Jordan Ratcliff finished fifth with a time of 12.04

In the boys 400 meter dash, East’s Alex Napier placed third with a 55.14 time. He also finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.29. West’s Dylan P’Simer was not far behind in third place with a time of 2:13.83. The Raider’s Dustin Sexton was sixth at 2:23.38.

East Carter’s Brandon Neace and Dustin Sexton each placed in the 1600-meter run. Neace placed fourth with a time of 5:08.97 and Sexton had a sixth place finish with 5:12.47. Sexton also finished sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.08.

Kyle Yates from East Carter was in fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:22.66.

Dallen Dean finished in fifth of the Boys 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.19

In the Boys 4x100 meter relay, East Carter’s team of Ben Napier, Zach Parsons, Jordan Ratcliff and Dalton Gifford finished second with a time of 47.64. West Carter’s team of Ethan Brown, Jacob Nunley, Ralph Wages and Tristen Mitchell finished sixth with a time of 49.06.
