April 2, 2014 — In Friday's tennis match at East Carter Middle School, the East Carter boys tennis team defeated Boyd County 4-2 while the girls dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lady Lions.
In the boys single matches, Marcus Harris defeated Spencer Brumfield 8-3 and Shawn Greenhill blanked Tristan Stewart 6-0. Boyd’s Isaa Puzey knocked off Mason Tomaselli 8-2 and Daniel Marquet defeated Logan Moore 6-0.
In the girls single matches, Emily Porter rallied to defeat Amelia Hunley 8-6 after trailing 5-1. Amber Hall fell to the Lady Lions’ Jessice Burton 8-1, Makenzie Hayes dropped a 7-5 decision to Annie Smallwood and Maria Hayes lost to Tatum Brumfield 6-1.
In doubles, the Raiders swept both matches with Jonathan Seagraves and Tanner Sammons defeating the Boyd tandem of Brumfield and Puzey 8-4. Zach Kiser and Josh Marquet 8-0.
East’s duo of Hall and Hayes fell to Burton and Hunley 8-1 in girl’s doubles.
The Lady Raiders now have a record of 4-3 while the Raiders improved their season mark, going 3-4.
