Trouble welcomed the West Carter Lady Comets in their match against Greenup on Tuesday night in the opening round of the 62nd District girls soccer tournament.
Despite giving the Lady Musketeers a run for their money, the Lady Comets could not muster enough goals to garner a victory, ending its season with a 4-2 loss.
The early stages of the game were very evenly matched with no clear dominant force.
Once half time came to a close, Greenup stepped up their game and sealed their place against East Carter in the district championship match this Saturday.
West Carter senior Amber Buckley was able to come up with two goals for the Lady Comets, but it would not be enough to advance the team any farther in the season.
An understandably disappointed West Carter Head Coach Sandra Brown wished for more time in the game.
“We had two goals put in back to back that were easy shots, but we didn’t defend them. Time was not on our side,” said Brown.
Due to human error and last minute injuries, the Lady Comets’ soccer season came to an end, bettering their record from last year by doubling their win total, finishing at 8-13.
