East volleyball sweeps West

(Continued)

Oct. 9, 2013 —

“We did finally break the serve and made some good plays but sometimes they don’t think they can beat the East Carters, the Rowan Countys, the Russells,” Barker said. “It’s something in their mindset they need to get rid of.”

Barker was impressed with the way her team battled in the first set. She just wants them to put it all together for three sets.

“After the first set, it looked like we were competing. But we just fell flat in the second set,” Barker said. “I just want to see my team compete.”

There are less than two weeks left of the regular season and Harris wants more out of her team.

“We have some improvement to make,” Harris said. “We’ve lost to some very tough teams and we needed some rest but now it is time for us to move forward.”

West Carter has two more matches at home, including one Tuesday night against Lawrence County and one Thursday against Fleming County. They will travel to Berea on Saturday.

East Carter continued its five-game road trip Tuesday night at Ashland. They go to Lewis County on Thursday and participate in the Belfry Bash on Saturday.
