Sept. 26, 2012 — Last Friday night, the East Carter Raiders looked to avoid its 18th straight loss, and although they were once again on the verge, there was no victory cigar for the boys in blue.
Trailing 20-7 entering the third quarter, hope appeared to be glim for Head Coach Zack Moore and his squad. Fortunately, the Raider offense decided to come to life in a big way, riding on the coattails of senior fullback/running back Cade Stidham.
Stidham brought his bull dozing abilities to the table as he picked up two red zone touchdowns in the third period to give East a 21-20 lead midway through the third quarter.
Several opportunities to score were thwarted, including another trip inside the Royal 30 yard line.
East Carter’s 21-20 advantage would be the only time the Raiders would find themselves ahead, as the Royals rolled out two more touchdowns.
Quarterback Donovan Roe was 8 for 20 on the evening, picking up 78 yards and throwing one interception on the evening.
This Friday marks the annual East vs. West football game, set to take place on the new and improved West Carter football field.
Journal-Times will have more on this game in Wednesday’s sports.
