East teams are 2nd at EKC Track Meet

The East and West Carter track teams competed in the Eastern Kentucky Conference meet on Saturday at Rowan County High School. East Carter’s boys and girls team took second place overall, while West Carter’s girls placed tenth, and boys took sixth.

In the 4x800-meter relay competitions, East girls took second while the boys placed third. West boys crossed the line for seventh.

For the 110-meter hurdles, East’s Cody Fleming placed fifth and West’s Cody Hayes took seventh.

East Carter had two standout competitors. Brianna Buck took first in the girl’s 100, 200, and 400-meter dash races, as well as the 800-meter run. Tyler McClain took first in the 1600-meter run, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, and the 3200-meter run.

West’s Brittany Oney took ninth and Alicia Wilson took twelfth in the 100-meter dash. East’s Kamryn McGlone placed fourteenth.

In the boy’s 100-meter dash, Drew Johnson placed first and Tyler Adkins was eighth for East while Chris Faulkenberg placed seventh and Tim Bradley took tenth for West.

West Carter took fifth in the girl’s 2x200-meter relay while East took sixth. In the boy’s race, West placed first, with East right behind in second.

Laryn Hignite placed ninth for West in the Girl’s 1600-meter run and Laken Moore finished eighth and Emily Slone took tenth for East.

West finished fifth and East finished sixth in the girl’s 4x100-meter relay. East placed fourth in boy’s action.

Asley Sargent placed seventh for East in the girl’s 400-meter dash. In the 300-meter hurdles, Delancy Morse took 5th for EC in girl’s while Matt Langstaff placed sixth and Cody Fleming took eighth for the boys. WC’s Alex William placed fourth and Brent Maggard took seventh.

In the 800-meter run, Laken Moore came in thirteenth for East while Vicky Madden took eighth and Laryn Hignite placed twelfth for West. McClain placed first and Matt Shaffer took thirteenth in boy’s action for East while Patrick Eldridge placed twelfth for West.

Ashley Sargent took seventh in the girl’s 200-meter dash for East and Alicia Wilson took fourteenth for West. For the boy’s 200-meter, Tim Bradley took sixth for West while Troy Combs placed seventh for East.

Kelsey McGlone and Delancy Morse took fourth and fifth in the girl’s 3200-meter for East. Taylor Johnson Placed thirteenth for West in boy’s action.

The East Carter girls took fourth in the 4x400-meter relay and the East boys took second. West Carter boys took fourth.

In the high jump competition, Paige Nolen placed second for WC in girl’s action. Dale Robinson and Matt Shaffer took fourth and fifth for East.

Ashley Sargent took first in the girls long jump and Anna Stepp placed twelfth for East while Vicky Madden jumped eighth for West. Dale Robinon took sixth and Cody Fleming took ninth in East boys action.

Langstaff took ninth for East in the boy’s triple jump.

Tashina Webster took third for East and Kaitlyn Shepherd took ninth for west in the girls shot put. Kerry Bellew threw second and Brandon Wallace tossed ninth for East in boys action while Nick Hicks placed third and Jess Webb-Greenhill took eighth for West boys.

Webster placed second and Kamryn McGlone placed thirteenth for East in the girls discus throw. Kerry Bellew and Jonnie Stafford took second and third for East in boys action while West’s Webb-Greenhill took fifth.
