East & West net hoops honors

The Carter County varsity basketball teams were well represented on the postseason honor lists following the 2007-’08 hardwood campaigns.

The East Carter Raiders, runnerup to Elliott County in both the 62nd District and 16th Region, placed three players on the All-Regional Tournament team; Drew Johnson, Colt Barnhill and Kyle Bair. A trio of players represented head coach Brandon Baker’s (the EKC Coach of the Year) club on the All-District squad; Drew Johnson, Kyle Bair and Ryan Sagraves. Johnson and Barnhill were named All-Area.

West Carter’s Chris Barker and Aaron Rayburn were chosen as All-District choices for the Comets and Barker earned an All-Area nod.

In the girls’ game, Lady Comets Monica Stevens, Sydnie Cox, Brittany Tackett and Kristin Perry were named to the All-District club. Stevens also picked up All-Region Tournament and All-Area accolades.

Lindsay Combs and Lakota Burge were selected All-District and Combs also garnered an All-Area award.
