Grayson, KY – The campus of Kentucky Christian University will serve as tournament host for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II Women’s Basketball Championship.
The ’08 tournament signifies the 25th anniversary of championship play for women’s basketball within the NCCAA and no team has been more closely associated with championship play than the KCU Lady Knights.
Kentucky Christian, winners of 10 national titles, enters championship play as the overall top seed and defending national champion. Seeking to derail the Lady Knights’ hopes of an unprecedented fourth back-to-back title run is the No.2 seeded Crimson Eagles of Philadelphia Biblical University. Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (Moore, Okla.) and Maranatha Baptist College (Watertown, Wis.) round out the top four seeds in this year’s tournament.
The tournament field represents eight region winners from around the country and two at-large bids. First-round games begin Tuesday, Mar. 11 and run through the championship game set for 8 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 15. Single-game tickets as well as tournament passes are available at the door.
Kentucky Christian University and the National Christian College Athletic Association would welcome any media coverage that you could provide. The Lady Knights’ roster features plenty of local players, including the starting backcourt of Ashley Baldwin (East Carter High School) and Jennipher Swann (Boyd County High School).
