Trophy buck is highlight at Saturday's big event
The Skills USA Club at Foster Meade Career & Tech Center in Vanceburg will be hosting the 1st Annual Lewis County Deer & Turkey Expo this Saturday, February 23. The event will be held at the Lewis County Middle School gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with admission at the door only $3. The club encourages all local hunters from the area to bring in their mounts free of charge. Many of Kentucky’s and Ohio’s top bucks will be present at the show and trophies will be given to “Best In Show.”
The “Beatty Buck,” a world record Non-typical from Ohio, will be on display throughout the day. Come down to see this outstanding whitetail land meet the hunter that took this amazing animal.
Vendors from all over the area along with a few from out of state will be at the event to display some of their products. There are outfitters from North Carolina, Ohio, Alabama and Kentucky going to be present with answers to your hunting needs. Also, Sportsmans Warehouse of Lexington will have a booth with numerous products to be sold. Heritage Honda, Penrod Kawasaki, and Big Blue Outdoors Artic Cat will all be present with ATV’s for the public to take a look at and even take home for the right price.
Tim Farmer of KY Afield will be attending the show to film a documentary on deer hunting in the state of Kentucky. Anyone with a Boone & Crockett deer is asked to bring his or her whitetail to the event to be interviewed by Mr. Farmer for this documentary.
Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. Prizes have been donated by Knight & Hale Game Calls, Biologic, Excalibur Crossbows, Mathews Solocam, Drury Outdoors, Federal Ammunition, HHA Sports, Cmere Deer, Scent Lok, Quaker Boy Game Calls, Rocky Boots, Moultrie Feeders, Dicks Sporting Goods, A-Way Outdoors, Jim Shockey, Creedmore, Wildlife Research Center, Wolverine Boots, Boss Buck, Pennington Seed Co., Kwikee Kwiver, Timbergost Game Calls, Stihl Chainsaws, Purina Deer Chow, Whitetails Unlimited and more. Absolutely no Firearms/Weapons are permitted on school property.
And make sure you bring your whitetail or longbeard to show the public, you may even win a door prize.
