1926-2011


    Augustine Carroll, 84, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday morning, June 4 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

    He was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Carter County, a son of the late Ed and Bertha Debord Carroll.

    Augustine was retired from General Refractory and was of the United Baptist faith. He served his country in the United States Army.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Dillon “Nemo” Bryant Carroll; two brothers, Dempsy “Jim” Carroll and infant Stanley Carroll; and two sisters, Glenna Sturgill and Irene Maddix.

    Augustine is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Fields Carroll; four sons and daughter-in-law, Danny Carroll, James and Pamela Carroll, Gary Carroll, and Paul Carroll, all of Olive Hill; two daughters, Glenna Porter of Salt Lick and Debbie Kennedy of Ontario, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Terry Porter, Tina Porter, Bill Kennedy Jr., Robert Kennedy, Amy Davis, Codie Plank, Garrett Carroll, Devin Carroll, Derek Carroll, Mary Beth Carroll, Sara Beth Carroll, Waylon Carroll and Missy Carroll; adopted granddaughter, Jessica Mabry and her husband Mitchell; 22 great grandchildren; adopted brother, Ricky Carroll; two sisters, Garnet Piatt and Helen Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews who he dearly loved. He will also be missed by all his friends on Rattlesnake Ridge.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Elder Louie Baier, Elder J. D. Riggs and Elder Jimmy Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll-Sammons Cemetery in Olive Hill with full military honors conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.

    Friends called Tuesday, June 7 and until the service hour on Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill.   

    James Ryan Fitchpatrick, Derek Austin Carroll, Robert Kennedy, Bill Kennedy Jr., Phillip Barber and Garrett Carroll will serve as pallbearers.
