    Kenneth C. "K.C." Kegley, 66, of County Road 504, Elliott County, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011, at his residence from complications of diabetes.

    Kegley was born March 25, 1945, in Mingo County, W. Va., to Columbia Bragg Kegley of West Virginia and Kenneth John Kegley of Elliott County. He was the grandson of "J.A." John Abraham and Mary Slusher Kegley of Mauk Ridge.

    He was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister of West Virginia and a stillborn son in 1976.

    Kegley moved as a youth with his family to his grandparents’ farm in Elliott County where he graduated from high school. He attended Morehead State University for two years and entered the army.

    He married his wife of 37 years, Helen Louise Hulett Kegley in 1974. They lived for a short time in Greenup County and then moved to Ashland, where they raised their 3 sons. Upon retirement they moved to the old family farm in Elliott County. He retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Social Services where he worked as a caseworker in Greenup and Boyd Counties and as the office supervisor in Carter County. He also previously worked for Pathways, as a boilermaker and for rural child care in Elliott County.

    K.C. was of the Christian faith. He had many hobbies, but his pride was in his family, his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, their spouses and his six grandchildren, Brian and wife Janey Kegley of Burlington, Erick and wife Beth Kegley and children Elizabeth, Justin, and Sarah of Greenfield, Ohio, Christopher and wife Tiffany Kegley and son Josh of Mt. Sterling, and Melissa and husband Frank DeSantis and children Blake and Elissa of Oxford, Fla.

    He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rod and Alice Kegley of Mableton, Ga., and Danny and Pam Kegley of Verner, W. Va.; two sisters, Phylis Hardy and Sue Corry, both of Marietta, Ga. He also leaves behind a special niece, Terri Kegley Ernst and two special nephews, John Kegley and George Corry of Georgia.

    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Warren Vanover and Brother Rex Sagraves officiating.  Burial was in the Kegley-Conn Cemetery on Mauk Ridge in Elliott County. Friends called from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 and until the service hour on Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
