March 30, 2011 — Thomas Clinton Burdette


    Mr. Thomas Clinton Burdette, 71, of Nancy, Kentucky, passed away Saturday evening, March 26, 2011, at the James Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Mr. Burdette was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, on November 9, 1936, to the late Otha Livingston and Emma Woods Burdette.

    Thomas was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Nancy, Kentucky, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Burdette retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years, one month, 15 days active duty, then from the Fred B. DeBra Company after 19 years and eight months. He was a member of the Local 392 Pipefitters Mechanical Equipment service, Division of Cincinnati. Thomas was a member of the Masonic Order Hopewell Lodge #80, Dillsboro, Indiana.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Fraley Burdette; two brothers, Otha Larry Burdette and Burlin Eugene Burdette; and one sister, Juanita Childress.

    Mr. Burdette is survived by his daughter, Belinda Sue Burdette of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son and daughter in-law, Thomas and Sharon Burdette, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward L. and Fay Burdette and Denver and Wanda Burdette, all of Milan, Indiana; three grandchildren, Marlietta Burdette, Michael H. Davis, and Robert B. Davis; and two great grandchildren, Riley Michael Huston Davis and Alyssa Ann Nichole Davis. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will truly miss him.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bobby Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with full military rites by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.

    Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

    Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Thomas’ memory to St. Luke Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.
