Philip Earl Huff Hammond
1941-2008
PIMA, AZ - Philip Earl Huff Hammond, age 66, of Pima, Arizona passed away on July 19. He was a former resident of Mesa, AZ; Kodiak, AK; West Carrollton, OH.
He was born in Grayson on October 20, 1941 and graduated with the Prichard High School Class of 1959.
He retired from U.S. Block Windows in Phoenix. Phil was also a fisherman and retort operator in Alaska. He served in the army from 1959 to 1962 where he was stationed in Germany. Phil will be most remembered for his smile, laughter, and entertaining stories. He will be truly missed and never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huff William Hammond and Helen Margaret Melvin Hammond, as well as his beloved Papaw Millis and Mamaw Georgia Melvin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rosetta Pruett Hammond; his “kids”, Neil of Tempe, AZ, Janice of Anchorage, AK and Todd of Gilbert, AZ; his sisters, Andrea J. Hanke of Germantown, OH and Julia Candace Scalf of McKee; his two nieces and two nephews, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held Tuesday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at Princess Chapel Church, Pastor Clell Lucas will be officiating.
Bridget Kay (Prichard) Justice
1948-2008
BELMONT, MI - Bridget Kay (Prichard) Justice aged 60 of Belmont, MI passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 11th day of July.
Bridget was born on the 14th day of February 1948 in Grayson.
She was bright, bubblie and full of life just as her character idol Betty Boop (DOB Feb. 14, 1920), with an infectious personality and smile everyone loved!
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Van Prichard, father Elmer Lewis Prichard both of Grayson.
Surviving are her fiancˇ, Robert Armstrong of Belmont; mother, Cordelia Shockey; sister, Bonita (Bill) Hovierta of LaFollett, TN; step-mother, Katherine Prichard of Grayson; brothers, Gary (Marilyn) Prichard of Wyndotte, MI., Charles (Joy) Prichard of Wyoming, MI., Byron (Lorie) Prichard of Caledonia, MI., Mark Prichard, Glen (Sheri) Prichard all of Grayson; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Armstrong children, Angel (Bob) Brown of Novi, MI., Gary (Lisa) Armstrong of Bend, OR., Ross (Jane) Armstrong of New Caanan, CT., Michael (Kiki) Armstrong of Rye, NY and their families.

A Celebration of Bridget's life was held 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE., Belmont, MI., with Pastor Greg Martin officiating.
Russell Carlton (Carl) Wilburn
1924-2008
DAYTON, OH - Russell Carlton (Carl) Wilburn, 83, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 16, in Dayton, OH.
He was born October 19, 1924 in Carter County, a son of the late Jacob and Jessie Willis Wilburn Callihan.
He was retired from the Army and Civil Service, was a WWII Korean Veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. and a Disabled Veterans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Everman Wilburn; a daughter, Heidi Prelitz; three brothers, William (Bill), Earl and George Harold Wilburn and two sisters, Faye O’Dell and Janice Carter.
His survivors include two sons, Wade (Donna) Wilburn of Grayson and Jadd (Charlene) Wilburn of Chula Vista, CA; one daughter, Cassie (Mark) Barnes of Madison, AL; two step-sons, James (Debbie) Everman of Grayson and Tyrone (Alice) Everman of Gulfport, Mississippi; one sister, Helen LeMaster of Hitchins; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Tackett, Erica (Jamie) Roe, Tyler (Megan) Wilburn, Jadd R. (Geneve) Wilburn,Jalene Wilburn, Sarah Everman, Tracy Everman and Scott Everman, Eli Barnes, Spencer Barnes, and Gracie Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jesse Wilburn, Jade Wilburn, Whitley Tackett, Ashley Roe, Skylar Sexton, Tyler Wilburn and Jadd Russell Wilburn Jr.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home with Tim Carper, minister. Burial followed in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Edna Davis Royster
1931-2008
GARRISON - Edna Davis Royster, 76, of Buzzard Roost Road, Garrison, died Tuesday morning.
Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Jimmy Potters officiating. Burial followed in Grizzle Community Cemetery.
Frank Lee Fortune
1930-2008
FLATWOODS – Frank Lee Fortune, 77, of Flatwoods, died Tuesday morning.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, July 12, at 1 p.m. by Rev. Terry Stiders at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial followed in the O’Brien Cemetery in Russell.
Gregory Tackett
1955-2008
BOYD CO. - Gregory Tackett, 52, of Boyd County, died Monday afternoon in Lawrence County.
Funeral services were held Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Brother Darrell Kidd and Brother Foster Akers. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Gary W. Bailey
1948-2008
MELONOMA - Gary W Bailey,60, husband of Susan A Bailey died Thursday, July 17.
Funeral services were held on Monday July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Sargent officiating. Gary was buried at Bethel Cemetary.
