Iva Jean Jenkins Johnson Litton
1940-2008
SANDY HOOK – Mrs. Iva Jean Jenkins Johnson Litton, age 67, of Route 1, Sandy Hook, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 25, at the residence of her daughter.
Mrs. Litton was born November 14, 1940, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Ray and Myrtle Crum Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Eugene Johnson of twenty-three years and Burl Litton of sixteen years; four brothers, Infant Bobby Ray Jenkins, Chester Conn, Everett Conn and Jake Jenkins; one granddaughter, Jessica Renea Eldridge; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Faith Eldridge and Kayleigh Jean Eldridge.
Jean was saved on December 8, 1966, and was baptized December 11, 1966, serving the Lord for more than forty-one years. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Community Church in Elliott County. Since May 5, 1979, Jean devoted her working career at the Saint Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, where she was employed for more than twenty-nine years as a Senior Nursing Assistant and Preceptor. Shortly after her retirement in July 2006, she and best friend, Edith McVey chartered a Northwest Tour bus to explore the great west. Her most beloved hobbies included gardening, canning, cooking, the great outdoors, and spending time with her family.
Additional survivors include her only daughter, Patricia Johnson of Morehead; two grandsons and spouse, Jeff Eldridge of Morehead, Nathan and Danni Eldridge of Sandy Hook; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey, and Gracie Eldridge all of Sandy Hook; one brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Tootsie Jenkins of Elliott County; one sister, Anna Mae Brown of Fairborn, Ohio; she also leaves several nieces, nephews, step children, and step grandchildren along with a host of extended family members, neighbors, and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the chapel of the Waddell and Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with brother Ricky Lewis and Brother Scott Litton officiating. Burial followed in the Jenkins Cemetery on Johnson Loop Road in Elliott County.
Tony Blankenbeckler, Bryan Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins, Stanley Jenkins, Gary Stevens and Gary Conn served as pallbearers.
Dr. Thomas Fossett, Dr. Adam Conn, Dr. Ed Scott, Dr. David Victor, Dr. Allen Lim, Dr. Kimberly Williams, Evelyn Harris, Lisa Poage, Lula Pecco, Patty Thomas, Jessica Waddell, Joan Wells, Nancy Flippin, Diane Helton, Bonnie Bennett, Lori Gulley, Nancy Maggard, Lanette Winkleman, Marsha Maggard, and all her Guardian Angels on 3rd North served as honorary pallbearers.
Carole Jean “Jeanie” Cundiff Williams
1939-2008
OLIVE HILL - Mrs. Carole Jean "Jeanie" Cundiff Williams, age 68, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday evening, June 24, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Williams was born October 30, 1939, in Olive Hill, and was the daughter of Louise Henderson Cundiff of Olive Hill and the late Otha "Hooks" Cundiff.
Jeanie was a Christian, loving wife, mother, daughter and friend to all who knew her. She attended Soldier Elementary School and graduated from Olive Hill High School in 1956 at age 16. She attended Morehead State University. She was a member of the Olive Hill Order of Eastern Star #290. She worked for several years in administrative positions in business and government offices in Kentucky and Ohio, including five years as a deputy court clerk. In November 1981, she opened Flowers by Jeanie at the intersection of Main and Cross streets in Olive Hill. Over the next 27 years, she and her mother built the shop into one of Olive Hill’s leading businesses. Together, Jeanie and Louise sought to give customers the best value for their money and the highest quality floral products available. All who entered the shop received a friendly greeting and warm hospitality. She supported local charitable organizations. She enjoyed spending time with family and close friends, often sharing coffee and laughter. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to England and France, Greece and several Caribbean cruises.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Wayne "Buddy" Cundiff.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard "Dick" Williams of Olive Hill, whom she married on June 20, 1964; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Heatherann Cundiff of Ocala, Florida; two nephews and their wives, David and Diane Cundiff and Jonathan and Kim Cundiff of Olive Hill; four great-nephews; and many more loving family members and friends.
Funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Martin Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Brenda Carol Mayo Conn
1957-2008
GRAYSON - Mrs. Brenda Carol Mayo Conn, age 51, of Grayson, passed away Wednesday morning, June 25, at her residence.
Mrs. Conn was born February 26, 1957, in Ironton, Ohio, and is a daughter of Gladys Pope Mayo Wilburn of Grayson, and the late Raymond Mayo.
Brenda was of the Christian faith, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all who knew her. She worked for many years at Cowden Sewing Factory as an inspector.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years, John Wayne Conn; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica Ann and Chad Gilbert of Olive Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Phillip Cox of Grayson; four step-brothers and three step-sisters.
Funeral service were held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Donald Pope and Brother Terry Leap officiating. Burial followed in the Everman #1 Cemetery on the AA Highway in Grayson.
Chad Gilbert, W. C. Gilbert, Jimmy Conn, Ernie Conn, Zeke Conn and Thurman Conn served as pallbearers.
Harold Plummer
1922-2008
OLIVE HILL - Harold Plummer, 85, of Olive Hill, died Sunday, June 29, at Carter County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson following and extended illness.
Harold was born October 4, 1922 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, a son of the late James and Alberta Reid Plummer. He was a member of the Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church, and a retired mechanic with the Carter County Board of Education. Harold was one of the founding members of the Old Time Machinery Association and a long time member of the ESSO Grotto.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is his wife, Madge Griffey Plummer; and his brother, Elwood Plummer.
Surviving is one son, Sam and wife Lisa Graves Plummer of Olive Hill; one daughter, Sue Plummer Roberts of Grayson; three grandchildren, John Paul Roberts, Sara Graves Plummer, and James Hunter Plummer; and one brother, Glendal Plummer of Olive Hill. He also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends who will greatly miss him.
Visitation will be at 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church. Services will be at Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church in Olive Hill Wednesday at 1 PM, with internment at the Garvin Ridge Cemetery.

Mary Lois Menix
1933-2008
GRAYSON - Mary Lois Menix, 74 of Grayson went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 28, in Kings Daughters Medical Center.
She was born July 20, 1933 in Grayson, a daughter of the late Tivis and Eva Justice Everman.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gradon Menix in 1999; and four sisters, Leah Carroll, Emma June Jessie, Helen Suttles and Barbara McDavid.
Her survivors include two sons, Doug and wife Teresa Menix, Jack and Judy Menix both of Grayson; one brother, Richard Everman of Olive Hill; four grandchildren, Eric and wife Leslie Menix, Mark Menix, Brooke and husband Josh Layne and Kyle Menix all of Grayson; two great-grandchildren, Grant Menix and Caleb Layne.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home by Donald Damron and Tim Carper. Burial followed in the Fitch Cemetery at Iron Hill.
George Mauk
1952-2008
ASHLAND - George Mauk, 56, of Ashland, passed away on Friday, June 27, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born February 15, 1952 in Ashland.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at the Williams Creek Community Church with Rick Kitchen, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday after 1:00pm until service time at the church.
Malone Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mary E. Smith

RACELAND - Mary E. Smith, 83, of Raceland, died Monday morning at Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral Services were Friday at the Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Louisa.
Nolan Parsons
1942-2008
ASHLAND - Nolan Parsons, 65, of Ashland died Wednesday at Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.
