Oct. 16, 2013 — Princesses don't usually rescue the warrior but that is exactly what will happen in an upcoming fundraiser.
The West Carter Middle School Warrior football team is holding a gala event next month to raise funds for helmets and uniforms. The event will be an afternoon especially for local princesses to enjoy, while helping a good cause.
The gala will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, but registration for the event ends Saturday, Oct. 19.
“We need to make sure we know how many girls to expect,” said Kimberly Thompson, one of the event organizers. “We can have up to 100 girls at each session. The first group will begin at 1 p.m. And the second at 3:30 p.m.”
The gala will be held in the WCMS gymnasium. Girls in eighth grade or younger will enjoy an afternoon of dancing, treats, finger and toenail painting, fairy dusting, and other games.
“Princess Tiana, Cinderella, and Prince Charming will be there,” Thompson said. “I know the girls will really enjoy this.”
Thompson said the event was inspired by similar princess parties at Tea Party Treats N Sweets in Ironton, Ohio.
Admission is $15 for each girl participating. All girls under nine must be accompanied by someone older than 14 who can sit in the bleacher area.
Parents and family members are invited to watch from the bleachers. Admission of $5 will be taken at the door.
Pre-registration for the event is required on or before Saturday, Oct. 19. To register, contact Thompson at 315-1710 or Becky Raybourn at 255-0590.
