Sept. 18, 2013 — An Olive Hill man is in jail after a 16-hour standoff with police officers.
Kentucky State Police received a report of an individual making threats and discharging a firearm in a reckless manner. The caller advised that Larry L. Price, 47, of Trumbo Road, was armed and making threats against the caller and any police who might show up.
KSP obtained a warrant for Price. When Troopers made contact, Price apparently refused to comply with all requests from law enforcement and barricaded himself inside the residence with a firearm.
Members of the KSP Special Response Team responded to the scene and began communicating with Price. Price failed to exit the residence when non-lethal gas rounds were deployed.
On Tuesday at approximately 3 a.m., entry was made into the residence. Price again refused to comply with requests from law enforcement and Trooper Jonathan Sizemore deployed his agency issued TASER. Price then became compliant and was then arrested.
Price was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, third degree terroristic threatening and resisting arrest.
He is lodged in the Carter County Detention Center. At press time Tuesday, no bail had been set.
The investigation is ongoing by Detective Ben Cramer.
