April 23, 2014 — An overnight closure of the easternmost KY 773 crossing of the Little Sandy River in Carter County will be required today to finish concrete surface patching on the structure.
This morning, Kentucky Department of Highways crews closed both of KY 773's Little Sandy bridges near Grayson for the repairs, as well as inspections, with the intent of reopening the bridges at 4 p.m. But, more concrete patching than anticipated is required on the KY 773 bridge closest to KY 1, necessitating its closure through 4 p.m. Thursday to allow enough time for the concrete to set.
The westernmost bridge closest to KY 7 will reopen at 4 p.m. today, and close again on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for repairs.
Message boards have been placed on roadways in the area to alert motorists. During the bridge closures, motorists using KY 773 – which serves approximately 1,900 vehicles a day – must detour using KY 7 and KY 1 through Grayson, or other local routes.
