A Carter County teenager was killed and five people were injured Thursday in a crash on US 60 near Cannonsburg.

In Tuesday’s local option election, Olive Hill citizens voted in favor of allowing the legal sale of alcoholic beverages within the city limits for the first time since 1937.
Former bailiff, 9 others indicted
A former Carter County court bailiff has been indicted on felony sex charges. Chief Bailiff Earl Buckler, 63, of Grayson, was charged with third-degree sodomy, a Class D felony after evidence was revealed following an internal investigation at the Carter County Detention Center.
No injuries in house fire
Olive Hill, Carter City and Grayson fire departments responded last week to a structure fire on Church Lane in Carter City.
Sparks files for shock probation
A former Olive Hill mayor serving time for selling marijuana may be given shock probation next Monday. Danny Sparks, 56, pleaded guilty in December to trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 yards of a school, a Class D felony.
